This years Spring Run is on a completely new course which heads out to Ambersham & Heyshott Common. The commons are sites of Special Scientific Interest and Grade 2 Nature Conservation site. Both are mainly heathland with a wide range of invertebrates, including three nationally rare species. In fact, this habitat is rarer than a Rain Forest!

This really is a stunning landscape and course (take a look at our Flickr album), which you’re unlikely to find anywhere else in the UK. Even though you might not notice a Dartford Warbler, Tree Pipit, Woodlark, Hobby or Stonechat, rest assured you’re in for a treat ‘out on the common’.  There will be a mix of great trails, some firm, some wet and quite a few sandy areas which makes this area unique. Runners will have the choice of taking on either a 5km *, 10km, 10 miles or dog-friendly canicross course across the stunning grounds of Cowdray Estate and the South Downs National Park. Don’t underestimate the course, it’s nowhere near as tough as last years Spring Run at Bexley Hill, but it’s still a good challenge and the ground conditions will take their toll. “Run the Seasons” Trail events are organised by Cowdray and Raw Running Ltd, giving runners an opportunity to explore the Cowdray Estate in West Sussex in each season.  Why not enter the 10km run series for a chance to be crowned male or female series winners and be presented with a luxury hamper from Cowdray Farm Shop & Café.  Overall winners will be decided on a points system based on their finishing position with their top three results counting towards the series 10km races.

* Only the 10 mile and 10km runs explore Ambersham and Heyshott Commons.

  • The course was stunning. Easily the best trail race I’ve had the pleasure to run.  I’m already looking forward to the next one’.
  • ……….an absolutely amazing run this morning. I did the 10k canicross – my dog and I are relatively new to racing together but we had a brilliant time. All your staff and marshals were fabulous and friendly and it was such a great vibe

Dog-Friendly Events – Important Information. At our dog-friendly events, we want both dogs and owners to have a fun and safe experience. All dogs must be kept on a harness throughout the event, and owners are responsible for their dogs at all times. We recommend using a harness that allows full movement, ensuring your dog can run comfortably and safely. Be mindful of fellow runners. When overtaking or being overtaken, give other runners plenty of space and ensure your dog is under control. This helps create a safer, more enjoyable experience for everyone. Please keep in mind that not all runners may be comfortable around dogs, so it’s essential to be considerate of others at all times.
