Arundel is steeped in history with its Castle and the River Arun running through the town. Located between Chichester and Worthing in West Sussex, Arundel is a very popular location with tourists and great place to spend a weekend away. This will be the 17th year of the Arundel Lido Triathlon Race HQ, which takes place at one of the UK’s best Lido’s, right on the banks of the River Arun and under the shadow of the castle.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to the ongoing pandemic, there will inevitably be a degree of social distancing and adhering to guidelines/restrictions imposed by British Triathlon and the local council. Our aim is to keep things the same as much as possible, although the event is likely to be smaller than previous years due to social distancing, particularly in the transition area. The swim distances may change and we’ll review the run route, again so that it’s more spread out where possible. Other than that, we’re hoping it’ll go ahead as normal.
Many competitors are keen to race again after 2020, so please don’t leave it too late to enter as we already have many entries deferred from last year. You’ll still get a great event that’s stood the test of time and has people coming back year after year. The event is suitable for triathletes of all abilities whether you’re honing your pre-season training or a complete novice, everyone is welcome.
All competitors will receive one of our famous T-Shirts, pack of Protein Balls and free unlimited race photographs from Sussex Sport Photography. Bring the kids down to support you and make the most of our free face painting from one of the country’s top artists. We’ve also got Eleven Sportswear and South Downs Bikes on site for all your needs. Arundel’s shops, cafes, pubs, museums, boat trips and castle will also be open to the public, making this a great event for the whole family.
What are the distances? Pending any changes, our Standard Triathlon & Relay Teams will race over an 800m swim, 35km bike, 9km run and the Sprint over a 400m swim, 19km bike, 5.4km run. The outdoor pool is heated, so no wetsuits are required. The bike course is on popular roads used by cyclists with good visibility. Despite the long gradual climb shortly after the start, the bike course is fast. The Standard run takes athletes along a stunning tree lined avenue by the Castle and River Arun before heading to the trip point at Offham Lodge and the village of South Stoke. The Sprint run is much flatter and turns at Offham Lodge for a fast 5km. Standard & Relay competitors start at 6am and the Sprint at 7:40am.
We’ll have a coffee barista on hand as well as hot and cold food and drinks on the grass by the finish, showers and free onsite parking. Alan Law Physiotherapy will be available for a post-race massage and then why not stroll into town for wander around the shops and highly rated cafe’s and pubs. The Standard & Relay start from 6am and the Sprint at 7:40am.
