We’re keeping everything crossed that 2021 will go ahead as normal. If not, we’ve put together a provisional plan for a safe event as there is still likely to be some form of social distancing. One thing we do have at this fantastic venue is plenty of space and countryside trails for you run along. The Highden Estate are fully behind the event and we aim to add another very special event to run alongside the DotD – Details to follow soon!
This is a stunning and picturesque run on the South Downs from the team at Raw Energy on Sunday July 25th 2021. The venue for the event will be at Cowdown, a private farm on top of the downs close to Washington, West Sussex (RH20 4BA). We’ve got a new 10km & our popular 10-mile trail run have some of the best views around stretching as far out to sea as the Rampion Wind Farm and the Norths Downs and Surrey Hills to the north. It’s not actually a dawn start, more like 8am, but it’ll be earlier than some of our other runs to avoid the midday sun if it shines. If our other runs are anything to go by then this is likely to be very popular.
Part of your entry fee will go towards supporting Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. They are a children’s charity providing hospice care services and community support for children and young people with progressive life-shortening conditions throughout West & East Sussex, Brighton & Hove and South East Hampshire. The Highden Estate donated our event hire fee in 2019 to the charity which is close their hearts – thank you.
As it’s an earlier than normal start we’ll aim to carry on where we left off in 2019, with complimentary tea and coffee before the race. We’ll also have some great food and drink after the event. Protein Ball are one of our partners and will be at the event and to keep the kids entertained while you’re out running you can explore the countryside or take advantage of the free face painting!
Competitor race numbers will be posted out the week before the event. There is no need to register unless you have forgotten your race number. The registration marquee will be in the main event field (Cowdown) which is where car parking and the start and finish are located. Portable toilets will be also be at this location.
All runners with receive a bespoke medal, together with free hot drinks, free face-painting for the kids and free (**) unlimited race photographs from Sussex Sport Photography
Welcome back!
(**) We can’t wait to meet our chums from Sussex Sport Photography again, but the free photo offer will be dependent on the format of the event.
