L Guess Jewellers River Arun 3.8km Swim (Ironman Distance) | Saturday 23rd June 2018
2018 race info will follow soon. Online entry is not currently open.
2018 will be the 10th time the event has taken place and another unique chance to swim the River Arun over the Classic Ironman distance of 3.8km from Ford to Littlehampton. Fast times are guaranteed, just ask last years competitors – so many PB’s! THE START TIME FOR 2018 WILL BE 09:30hrs FROM FORD MARINA. Coaches will leave the RNLI at Littlehampton from 08:30hrs to take competitors to the holding point at Ford Church.
The River Arun runs from Littlehampton and northwards beyond Arundel and Pulborough, West Sussex. The Arun has the second fastest tidal river in the UK so you’re guaranteed a Personal Best! All the usual REP safety cover will be provided including the Harbour Masters launch, pilot boat, safety RIBS, kayaks and spotters on the river bank.
The start will be just before high tide during the 30 minute ‘slack’ water period, before the tide starts to turn.
WETSUITS ARE LIKELY TO BE COMPULSORY. Entry fee includes live timing, unlimited race images, coach transport to start and donations to the RNLI and local charities.
£28 All Competitors
Registration will take place close to the RNLI Station between 09:00 and 10:45hrs. Please leave plenty of time to park as the town and quay will be busy – there are numerous car parks in and around the town.
We suggest you initially aim to park at Coastguard Road, BN17 5LH, which is the close to Harbour Park Amusements (See map on website). From here it’s only a short walk to the RNLI; just follow the river upstream and it’s a much easier location to depart from. Collect your swim cap and bag for your kit and familiarise yourself with the course maps. You will also need to have your race number written on your hand.
Race HQ is the RNLI Lifeboat Station in Surrey Street, Littlehampton, West Sussex, BN17 3BL. The registration and finish will all be at this location. Littlehampton is about 16 miles west of Brighton and 8 miles east of Chichester.
