Lezyne Arundel Lido Triathlon |Sunday 20th May 2018
Online entry now open.
The Lezyne Arundel Lido Tri is now in its 14th year and will no doubt sell out as it has done each year. Arundel is steeped in history with its Castle and the River Arun running through the town. Located between Chichester and Worthing in West Sussex, Arundel is popular with tourists. Race HQ is the unique Arundel Outdoor Lido right on the banks of the River Arun and under the shadow of the castle.
There are three events to choose from, the ‘Long Triathlon’ (800m swim, 40km bike, 10km run), the ‘Sprint Triathlon’ (400m swim, 20km bike, 5km run) and ‘Relay Triathlon’ run over the long distance course (1 swimmer, 1 cyclist & 1 runner). The ‘Long Triathlon’ starts at 6:00am followed by the ‘Sprint Triathlon’ at 7:40am. The swim is in the heated outdoor 25m pool; the bike uses mainly ‘A’ Class roads and has a long gradual climb shortly after the start. The run takes athletes along the tree lined avenue by the castle and River Arun before heading towards the Arundel Estate. The Long Triathlon then climbs to the trig point on the estate affording spectacular views at the top, before a rolling section into the village of South Stoke. A catering marquee and Trade Stand will be sited within the grounds of the Lido. Arundel’s shops, cafes, pubs, museums and castle will also be open to the public.
If you’re starting early on Sunday please try and register on Saturday (5:00pm to 6:30pm) at the Lido as this will save time on Sunday morning (anyone can register on Saturday though). Registration on Sunday is from 5:20am to 8:30am. You will need to show your BTF Licence or purchase a ‘Day Licence’ for £4; there are no exceptions.
If you are not a member of BTF you will already have paid the £5 for the ‘Day Licence’ in your entry fee. Collect two race numbers, timing chip, bike & helmet numbers, T Shirt & Clif Bar BEFORE racking your bike. You will not be allowed in the transition area until your bike and helmet numbers are attached. ONLY ATHLETES WILL BE PERMITTED IN THE TRANSITION AREA.
The race location is Arundel Lido, Queen Street, Arundel, West Sussex, BN18 9LE. Please make sure you leave plenty of time to park, register and rack your bike before your allocated swim start.
